Time Experiments (Time Actions - Installations)

Through this series of works begun in 1985, we find ourselves confronted with a profound reflection on the very nature of time and representation. This is not simply an exercise in visual documentation, but a meditation on the continuity of being and on the dialectical relationship between permanence and change that traverses the entire human experience. The gesture of systematic return becomes a methodology of knowledge, a practice of obstinate fidelity that reveals the hidden complexity of the real. The multiple dimensions of perception are investigated, capturing the variations that time and environmental conditions imprint on the relationship with reality through the patient recording of changes—sometimes imperceptible, sometimes deliberately evident—that accumulate and stratify. Here manifests a process of continuous interrogation, where the object becomes a pretext for a broader reflection on the processual character of knowledge and on the impossibility of grasping reality in definitive form. The periodic return to the same subject is not repeating a gesture, but is interrogating time itself, operating as an archaeology of perception, excavating the layers of visual memory to bring to light the transformations that operate beneath the surface of apparent identity. The act of returning becomes a practice of knowledge, an exercise in deciphering those hidden codes that regulate the relationship between perceiving subject and perceived object, revealing how every encounter with the real is simultaneously repetition and difference. What emerges from this practice is a particular form of secular rituality, where repetition is never merely reiteration but always re-interpretation, always excavation into the depths of relationships that seem stabilized but that actually mutate incessantly under the pressure of time. This logic of different repetition finds echo in our other research that investigates the paradoxical nature of return, where the apparently identical gesture reveals each time its own irreducible singularity. Each new dating does not simply mark chronological passage, but inaugurates a new relationship with the represented object, a different modality of presence that reveals how the perceptual act is always also an act of construction of the real. The chosen subject becomes a metaphor for existence: apparently identical to itself, yet constantly transformed by time and by the changing conditions that continuously redefine the field of interpretive possibilities. In this temporal seriality is confirmed what we might call the "phenomenology of the unfinished," of the necessary partiality of every cognitive act that can never claim to exhaust the object of its investigation. The work never definitively concludes because reality itself is in perpetual transformation, because every fixation is temporary and every representation opens new questions instead of providing definitive answers. Each representation is complete in itself, yet inevitably partial with respect to the totality of temporal experience. What is documented is not only the evolution of the chosen subjects but the changing of the perceptual conditions themselves, recording the variations that time imprints on the capacity to see and interpret the world, on the very apparatus of vision that modifies itself with the accumulation of experience and with the sedimentation of history. As Einstein demonstrated, time is never absolute but always relative to the observer's reference system, and these experiments translate this fundamental intuition into practice, showing how every perceptual act is conditioned by the historical and biographical position of the perceiver, revealing the relational and processual nature of what we call reality.
